How OTP Verification Works?


You can use EasySell SMS/WhatsApp OTP to verify your customers’ phone numbers through a verification code sent via SMS or WhatsApp. This feature helps reduce false orders and prevent delivery issues by ensuring that each customer’s phone number is valid and up to date.


When a customer fills out the form and submits their order, EasySell immediately creates the order in Shopify. At the same time, an OTP (One-Time Password) popup appears, asking the customer to verify their phone number.


  • If the customer successfully verifies their phone, EasySell automatically adds a tag to the Shopify order: ✅ EASYSELL_VERIFIED.
  • If the customer does not verify their phone, no tag is added.


By default, EasySell creates the order before verification. This ensures that even if the customer doesn’t have access to their phone or their phone is turned off, you can still recover the order later.


If you prefer to create the order only after verification, you can enable this option: App > Settings > Fraud Protection > Phone Number Verification (OTP) > Ask for OTP verification before creating the order.



1- Access SMS OTP feature


  • Go to Integrations & Messaging > SMS & WhatsApp Messages
  • Scroll down to Phone number Verification (OTP) feature
  • Click on Activate



2- Personalize OTP Message text



  • {otp} to insert the verification code (required).


3- Personalize OTP Pop-up text


Those are the Pop-up fields that will be shown to the customer, to enter the verification code sent earlier.




4- Maximum number of attempts


Here you can define the maximum number of unsuccessful OTP attempts, Choose from 1 to 5.
